A recent art exhibition devoted to the largely unknown artist Italico Brass closes in Venice in a few days. Sadly I didn’t get to see the show. However my friend Cat Bauer did and here’s what she wrote….

Watch out for this artist – he’s quite something.

Special thanks to Cat Bauer for such an informative article – thank you.
Why not investigate our up-coming trip to Venice in April: Venice – April, 2024 when I’ll be hosting a small group at the Pensione Accademia – a magical location and a wonderful opportunity. Time to be inspired in Venice……

Interesting to see Locanda Montin – we spent a week there in 2011.

Sue – you have very good taste – Locanda Montin is many people’s ‘go to’ in Venice – great location, wonderful courtyard garden, thoroughly Venetian experience.

Thank you Janet – a most interesting post. As you say he is probably the most famous Venetian Artist I had never heard of. Reminded me slightly of Toulouse- Lautrec., in both choice of subject matter and style? Thank you again, John

Thank you John – old Italico Brass also reminds me of the French Impressionists – and he did study in Paris for a while.

I was booked to be in Venice from November 30th to December 9th and then, sadly, had to cancel my trip at the last moment. Seeing the Italico Brass exhibit was going to be one of the highlights of this visit, so instead I ordered the catalogue (in Italian) and a small English guide to the show from Feltrinelli. Shipping and import duties were expensive but it was a very worthwhile indulgence.
