At home in Venice….. Join #grandtourist in Venice in April when the wisteria is flowering and the Rialto Market is over-flowing with fresh vegetables and delicious fish. 6 days at the wonderful Pensione Accademia in stylish Dorsoduro – you can see the Grand Canal from the garden. It’s as close as you can get to being at home in Venice.

We will be a small group – around 10 guests. Lots of dinners and lunches included. Two very, very special private visits to be revealed in a month or so. Private boat tours of Venice and the lagoon – a Sestiere by Sestiere level of visit!

The plan is: 5 nights at the comfortable and beautifully run Pensione Accademia – with a lovely courtyard and garden, very nice staff (they’ve all been there for years). The ‘pensione’ is high quality and one of the few owner-operated properties remaining in the same hands for decades. They have just 27 rooms. 

The trip will be hosted and guided by me – there’ll be walks to hidden gardens, a visit to the Giudecca. We’ll go for private boat tours in and around Venice, including very special and unique visits. We’ll head up the bell tower of San Giorgio Maggiore. We’ll discover the incredible artisans of Venice, paper makers, printers and jewellery makers.

Many meals included, all breakfasts, some lunches and most dinners. We’ll eat at a selection of my favourite restaurants – the food will be very good. We’ll have a day trip to Torcello and Burano with lunch at the fantastic Da Romano. We’ll also eat on the most scenic terrace in Venice (which one could that be)? In fact there are two! We’ll also do a wine-tasting of Veneto wines.

We’ll visit the location of Katharine Hepburn’s antique glass purchase and her fall into the canal.

• Prices based on exchange rate of € 1.11 / GBP 1.00 (may vary at time of booking).
