Hi John – the best quality Parmesan cheese often does not make it to the UK. However very high quality ‘delicatessen type shops’ usually stock ‘parmigiano reggiano’. The best cheese has typically been aged for 5 years (at least)sometimes more………
By the way I often bring cheese back from Italy – if you would like a piece (on my next journey back from Italy) let me know – the cost for a really lovely, generous sized, deliciously-aged piece of cheese will be about £ 16– / let me know if you’d like some!
