In Portland I was hit by individualism. I experienced an intensity of music and in that a creativity that’s been absent from my life. Everyone has a thing and so many are full of passion. When I asked someone what they did, more often or not they’d launch into their blazing monologue about art, music, poetry, oil painting or poker. I spent the nine-hour crossing catching up on films, their common denominator being their focus on people’s devotion to art, imagination and music. I was struck by a personal creativity that made me question my inspiration and my voice. That’s why I want to share any of this at all. I want to write and share things and listen to the voice that says I’ve got something to say.
