The thing is in Italy, and Sicily especially, there’s almost always a cake involved. Today is the ‘Festa dell’ Immacolata’ the Feast of Mary, mother of God. To celebrate her day of purity there’s a delicious cake to enjoy. In this case it is the ‘buccellato siciliano’ sort of a doughnut or perhaps a rather dense pastry-rich Eccles cake, stay with me here!
